Robbie Whelan covers the Walt Disney Co. and other big Hollywood studios for The Wall Street Journal in Los Angeles. A WSJ reporter since 2010, Robbie previously covered the Covid-19 pandemic from a health and science perspective, the shipping industry, commercial real estate stocks, home-building companies and the U.S. housing market. From 2016 to 2020, he was based in Mexico City, covering corporate news, economics, politics, migration, trade and the drug war as a foreign correspondent. Previously, Robbie worked as a reporter for the Baltimore Sun and the Daily Record of Baltimore. He is originally from Pittsburgh and attended Johns Hopkins University.
