Ryan Dezember is based in New York and writes about commodities, including oil, natural gas, cotton, lumber and grains, as well as real assets, such as timberland, energy infrastructure and rental houses. He previously covered the private-equity industry. Before that, he was based in the Journal’s Houston bureau, where he reported on the oil-and-gas industry in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and amid the shale-drilling boom.
